Careers programme
The aim of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance at Harris Science Academy East London is to ensure that students who study here are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment, and go on to be successful leaders in their chosen field.
We focus on the following benchmarks to ensure that students receive good career guidance:
1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from career and labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
5. Encounters with employers and employees
6. Experiences of workplaces
7. Encounters with further and higher education
8. Personal guidance
How do we quality assure our careers programme?
Each of the Gatsby Benchmarks are tracked throughout the academic year to ensure we are meeting the requirements and providing the best possible careers programme for our students. We use several mechanisms to quality assure our careers programme, which include:
-
Termly Compass Evaluation Tool – Signed off by Careers Hub East
-
Annual Harris Federation careers audit
-
Termly Meeting with Maruf Deen - Enterprise Coordinator (Newham)
-
Termly Harris Federation careers lead meeting
-
Weekly Harris Federation careers lead bulletin.
-
Termly CEIAG Newham Networking Meeting
