Harris Federation Sixth Form
Harris Sixth Forms are where adult life begins and where you take the first steps towards a successful career.
We are proud to have almost 2,000 students, making us one of the largest Sixth Forms in London. One benefit of our size is that we can provide a wealth of opportunities for our students that simply cannot be found elsewhere.
But equally, we are proud despite our growth to have retained an ethos that treats Sixth Formers as individuals, allowing and encouraging students to grow and succeed.
The aims of the Federation with respect to its Sixth Form are as follows:
- To encourage high academic standards and to enable each student to achieve his/her full potential.
- To encourage and maintain personal high standards in work, conduct and presentation and to foster an acceptance of individual responsibility in this respect.
- To place every student on a programme of study appropriate to his/her ability and needs.
- To allow every student individual freedom wherever possible, in order to prepare him/her for planning his/her time at University or for entry into employment.
- To provide all necessary guidance regarding entry to Universities, Colleges of Higher Education or employment.
- To encourage every student to take a full and active part in the life of the Federation and to contribute to its leadership.
Results secured by Harris Sixth forms are exceptionally strong.
- 1 in 4 students across the Federation go to Russell Group universities.
- 1 in 5 students gain places to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.
- 70+ students gain places to study at Oxford and Cambridge.
Harris Experience Advanced Programme
Harris Experience Advanced was launched as a Federation Sixth Form academic enhancement programme in January 2013. Since then, we have had close to 200 of our gifted and talented students in Year 12 and 13 participating.
The Harris Experience Advanced programme lasts for the duration of the sixth form, from early selection in the autumn term of Year 12 to final Year 13 exams. The programme aims to give our most academically able students outstanding preparation for some of the country’s top university destinations, including Oxford and Cambridge. Students have automatic entry into the programme if their GCSE average point score is above 50 points. Later in the autumn term, more students are added on their teachers’ recommendations. Once selected, students will need to agree to be on the programme and to attend the compulsory sessions – usually three a year in Year 12.
In Year 12, Harris Experience Advanced students are given the opportunity to meet each other at least three times a year as a group, to share ideas and to take advantage of special programmes like the MeDCAS programme and the Oxbridge Programme. They also receive clear and tailored advice about top level university entry and we teach students how to build up a competitive profile. They are expected to apply for and to attend extra-curricular academic events. Examples of this include Sutton Trust or UNIQ summer schools or a residential on a subject of their choice at Oxford or Cambridge. They may also go on university visits, attend special university events and the like. They will be given guidance on applying to Russell Group universities and tracked carefully, whether that relates to their personal statement writing or current grades. They may even receive extra academic support where appropriate. In Year 13, their involvement in the programme will depend on their university choices. They have access to individual help and guidance throughout the year.

Harris Futures
Whatever your starting point, students leave our academies uniquely linked by a Harris Federation education; having studied in the best academies, in the greatest city in the world.
So many of these students used their time at Harris as a springboard to amazing things: apprenticeships, university degrees and professional careers which might not have been possible without the transformational educational experience that Harris offers.
Each of these former Harris students are part of an amazingly powerful network: a network that we want to bring together, as a force for good across our academies and across London itself. This is why Harris Futures - our newly-launched alumni network – matters: because we have the power to make a difference.
Anyone who has attended a Harris Academy knows that so much of what we are able to make possible in our academies comes from the support and enthusiasm of individuals and organisations who support our work. Some provide financial support; others give their time and advice, engage with our students and staff, and provide opportunities that money cannot buy. Former students have told us how much of a difference having a mentor, or receiving work experience, made to their lives – and we’re keen to provide opportunities for these transformational experiences to happen more often.
Harris Futures is creating opportunities for our former students to reconnect with our schools and be role models for and supporters of the next generation of Harris students.
As a network for former students, Harris Futures also gives you the opportunity to meet others, meet up with school friends, share experiences and build a force for the future in London - and beyond.
