Students at Harris Science Academy East London (HSAEL) are celebrating a fantastic set of A Level results today which point to a huge improvement in standards. The average grade secured by each student is up by more than a grade in each subject reflecting the transformation underway at the Academy.
The overall pass rate improved to 97% which is above the national average and the number of entries achieving A*-C grades is an impressive 25 percentage points higher compared to last year.
There were some particularly strong individual successes including:
- Inas Mohamed-Mujahirdeen who will be studying Actuarial Science at Queen Mary University;
- Aisha Omowarere who will be studying Biomedical Sciences at St George’s, University of London;
- Delali Latzoo who will be studying Accounting and Finance at University of West England, Bristol;
- Sadeel Saleh will be studying Architecture at University of West London.
Dan MacPherson, Principal at HSAEL:
“We are so pleased with these results which reflect the hard work of students and staff. Our outstanding results in Philosophy where 100% of students achieved A*-B grades show that science is a broad discipline, and students achieve highly at HSAEL across a range of subjects.
Students will be leaving HSAEL to study a wide variety of science-related disciplines, with a significant number of our female students choosing STEM-based higher education options.
This bucks the national trend and highlights the superb work of the Harris Federation Sixth Form team in supporting students to make ambitious future plans. Today’s results confirm the significant improvements that have been made at the Academy since joining the Harris Federation and point to a very bright future for HSAEL students, as we prepare them to be leaders in their chosen field.”
